Meet Christa!

My name is Christa and I'm a 25 year old Christian stay at home mama to one precious baby girl who is 16 months old. I've been married to my husband for 3.5 years and we live in Minnesota. Up until a few days ago, I worked full time in the corporate part of a bank, which I absolutely despised, and going to school part time. I quit my job on Friday 2-26-10 to be a stay at home mom. I'm still going to school though and plan on going back to work full time when our kiddos are in school. I attend a very nice private school and am majoring in Elementary Education. We are trying to have a second baby...hoping March is our month!!
Prior to a few months ago, we were complete money wasters. If we wanted it, we went out and bought it with no regards to anything. We had about $5,000.00 in credit card debt as well as other loans. In between November and February, we paid off all of the credit card debt and are currently focusing on paying off all the other loans (which are quite substantial). Our plan is to be completely DEBT FREE by the summer of 2014. After that, all of that money we put towards debt will start going towards savings and charity. We are just starting to read Dave Ramsey and are going to follow his plan to be debt free.
We cloth diaper, and I use other cloth products as well (sanitary napkins etc). We **try** to be as green as possible; I make all my own cleaners, try to use wash cloths instead of paper towels, we recycle etc. I know I'm not as green as I could be but I'm always trying to find new ways to do so!
As you can tell from my blog, we have also become very thrifty. We went from being a family who spend WELL above our means, spending well over $600 a month on groceries and $200-$300 a month on going out to eat with all the latest and greatest that we could buy to being a family who sold or got rid of most of our "latest and greatest" (our cable is gone, we sold the WII that we didn't' use etc) and being on a strict budget that tells us where every penny of our money is going. We're very new to the budget and we're working out the kinks of it. Since we started on a budget, I feel like we have more money then we did before, even though I'm not making an income. It's amazing what working within a budget can do. I feel SO much less stress!!

Well, that's a little about me in a nutshell! I hope you enjoy my blog!
